Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

One shall-remain-nameless Racked editor recently tried to go blonde unprofessionally, and wound up with seriously brassy roots. The fix-it: Lush's Marilyn Hair Treatment, which is mask you apply before you shampoo and leave on for twenty minutes, with ingredients like lemon oil and chamomile infusion that lightens hair while moisturizing.

That's especially helpful if you're also using another brass-fighter: Clairol's super-effective (and very drying) Shimmer Lights shampoo.
