Though neighborhood greenery store Plantworks isn't even technically closed yet—its main shop containing houseplants shuttered last week, but its gardening center will remain open on certain weekdays throughout the month—Bowery Boogie is already reporting on its replacement: a gym.

While there's no physical evidence (i.e. press releases or building permits), the rumor holds water based on the fitness explosion in this micro-neighborhood as of late. Barry's Bootcamp is opening its third NYC location on Lafayette Street, and Crunch just relocated to the northern end of the Bowery.

That's excluding the budget gym Blink Fitness just down the street from Plantworks, and the Soulcycle underneath, which appears to be undergoing a reception-area renovation. There's also the David Barton Gym, which recently added cycling with Cyc Fitness, a New York Sports Club overlooking Broadway at Great Jones Street, and a bunch of yoga studios.

No wonder Barry's founder and trainer and hottie Joey Gonzalez referred to the neighborhood as a "fitness corridor" when discussing his gym's opening.

So what's missing? A barre studio? A dedicated high-intensity interval training gym? Let us know what you think is coming in the comments section.
