Yesterday marked the end of the Chelsea Antiques Garage, a neighborhood mainstay since 1976 that's been forced out for a hotel (many vendors will end up at the neighboring West 25th Street Market). Says one last-day attendee: "It was cool. It was grimy and gritty. It was fascinating. It was mildly frightening and sometimes a little depressing. It was NYC. And it will be missed."
