The Joy Gryson sample sale kicked off yesterday morning at the brand's Tribeca flagship, where bags and wallets from the designer's namesake line and Olivia Harris and IIIBeca by Joy Gryson labels are all up to 75% off. The sale is in the back of the shop, and includes items from current and past seasons, samples, and one-of-a-kind prototypes. Oh, and prices start at just $10.
There's a mix of small and large bags in a variety of shapes and colors. Some smaller bags include chainmail bucket bags, faux fur detailed clutches, and colorful IIIBeca envelope cross-body bags, all for $50. We saw a few Nanette Lepore bags too, including the structured pink crossbody ($50) in the gallery.
Larger bags include colorful leather totes for $100, Olivia Harris slouchy snakeskin carryalls for $100, and IIIBeca satchels for $50. A few styles were priced a bit higher, including an oversized leather-detailed backpack sample for $215 and soft leather satchels for $250.
Small accessories like wallets, iPhone and iPad accessories, and clutches range in price from $25 to $50. Some highlights: IIIBeca iPhone wristlets with credit card slots for $25 and quilted leather Olivia Harris iPad sleeves, also for $25.
Near the back of the sale space is a table of heavily discounted damages. Small bags and wallets on this table are all $10 and larger bags are $25. The damages we noticed were, for the most part, pretty minor—like missing studs, broken snaps, and scuffs. If you're handy (or don't mind going to a cobbler), this area was a gold mine for inexpensive leather goods.
Staff will continue to bring out more stock as the sale continues, and they mentioned there are a lot more IIIBeca items in back that will go out on the floor as the sale progresses. No details yet on whether or not there will be further markdowns.
