Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

These are the last few days that St. Mark's Bookshop will be at its Third Avenue location. After closing at 10pm on Monday, June 23rd, they'll be packing up for their new location on Avenue A. According to a sign in their window that EV Grieve posted, they hope to reopen "in a few days".

They've been operating out of this space since 1992, though they've been open for a total of 37 years. As usual, a rent hike earlier this year had them looking for another shop or facing closure, and after a successful Indiegogo campaign, along with other fundraising efforts, they were able to secure a lease at 136 Third Street in a NYCHA-owned storefront.
