Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

The first-ever SoulCycle warehouse sale kicked off this morning at 12 West 27th Street, and tons of fit New Yorkers and cycling diehards turned out to scope the deals on workout gear for men and women. Prices are low, starting at $22 for sports bras and maxing out at just $40 for high-end performance leggings.

Most of the people we saw at the sale were stocking up, and for good reason: if you buy five items, you can pick up another one for free. It's definitely chaotic inside, but the shop was blasting amped-up jams while we were there to keep it fun.

The women's selection (sized XS through XL) makes up the majority of the sale, and we found that there are more tops than anything else. We saw a ton of loose-fitting cotton tanks for $25 with cheeky SoulCycle logos and sayings. There are also some long-sleeved lightweight tees for $30 and a host of bright cotton tees for $25.

We found a few nylon-spandex shirts with built-in bras, but not many: you're more likely to find more laid-back workout gear than serious exercise apparel here. We also spotted some loungewear, including terry sweatshirts for $35, with matching sweatpants that are also $35.

Nike Pro shorts and performance leggings are present, and everything is adorned with SoulCycle logos. The shorts are all $30, while the leggings and tights are the most expensive items ($40).

There are a few Champion sports bras ($22), in thin strap and supportive thick-strap styles. The selection of these isn't huge, but staff will be restocking throughout the sale, so it's possible there will be more.

The smaller men's section includes shirts, shorts, and jackets, and sizes range from small to large. We found burnout cotton muscle tanks for $25, mid-length nylon shorts for $30, and graphic cotton tees for $25. A small sampling of men's Lululemon track jackets are available for $35 each. Though the men's section is limited, there are a few tables with unisex tees (all $25).

Be prepared to wait in line: When we first arrived this morning, there were at least 150 people queued up (though we did notice it moving fairly quickly). As we mentioned earlier, staff will be restocking, but there will be no further markdowns. Additionally, there is no fitting room, so dress accordingly if you plan on trying things on.—Gillian Fuller
