A group of employees at The Strand are taking a stand against the legendary bookstore, according to Gothamist. Why? They're less than amused with the store's newest trinket—a magnet that reads "Prose Before Hoes" in all caps.
An anonymous group sent a statement to the legendary bookstore's owners that reads in part: "It is an insult to our customers and members of our staff; we find that it diminishes the integrity of our workplace ... In the future, we request that you be more mindful of the content of your merchandise, and avoid offensive, misogynistic, racist, and degrading merchandise."
Gothamist has reached out to The Strand for comment but has yet to hear back.
