We stopped by the Tory Burch sample sale when it opened this morning at 11am, and were shocked to find a line all the way down the street to Seventh Avenue, despite the fact that the sale opened early yesterday.

Inside, the sale was just as busy, and we noticed items selling out fairly quickly, especially in the smaller sizes. You'll find the designer's preppy womenswear in sizes 0 through 14, bags, swimwear, and shoes. Prices start at $45 for tees and polos, and cap off at $295 for some bags.

Ready-to-wear makes up the majority of the sale. We found a ton of work-appropriate tops in neutral hues and patterns, including embroidered polos for $45 and fringe-detailed cashmere tee shirts for $85, as well as long-sleeved button-down tops for $95 and boyfriend cardigans with gold Tory Burch logo buttons for $95.

Most of the jackets are blazers or suitable for work, like cropped tweed jackets and collarless blazers, both $195. Though the price list indicates that there are heavier jackets, coats, and ponchos available, we only found one navy leather coat ($250) in a size small.

Dresses are made up of work staples (stretchy shifts, boat-neck sheaths) and summery styles. Some highlights: the floral chiffon maxi dresses, beaded linen shifts, and crocheted spaghetti-strap styles. All dresses and kaftans are $150, and err on the more conservative side of casual.

All bottoms—pants, shorts, and skirts—are $85. We spotted a beachy tiered chiffon skirt and a pleated knee-length floral skirt that we loved. Pants include both casual and professional options: cropped, cuffed jeans, satin tuxedo pants, and printed twill trousers. The stock here tends to be a bit heavier on the workwear side, but if you dig you'll find some funkier styles (we did find a pair of tie-dyed jeans).

The rest of the sale is divided between shoes and bags, with a small collection of swimwear available. Expect to find oversized totes for $295, leather bowling bags for $250, and nylon backpacks for $150.

Shoes include leather stacked-heel booties for $165, patient leather oxfords for $99, and rattan-and-canvas sneakers for $75. The label's Carolina flats and Miller sandals are also available for $99, but they're sold out in sizes below 8.

Only three swimsuit styles are available: halter-top one pieces ($75), solid triangle bikinis ($90, or $45 per piece), and one-shoulder one-pieces ($75).

There's a large fitting room in the sale space, and staff said they'll be restocking throughout—but judging from the shoe shortage and lack of smaller sizes, we're not so sure that they have back stock of everything. There may be further markdowns as the sale progresses (the last sale in December did discount items further), but as of now we have no details. Check back for updates, and head to the dealfeed below for time info.—Gillian Fuller

Update: A previous version of this post mistakenly identified the Carolina flats as the Reva flats; it's been amended above.
