The fashion industry's recent embrace of all things sporty has given us some wonderful gifts—Tevas as acceptable heel substitutes, sweats that can double as actual pants, varsity jackets in notice-me colors, and, now, snapback bikinis!
Meagan Delaney of Lower East Side shop The Rising States and Jessica Yuen of the Queens-based label Bedford Street Laundry have teamed up on a capsule collection of mesh-paneled '80s-babe swimsuits that tie at the hips with baseball cap snaps, not strings.
The pair came up with the concept (and colorways) while flipping through a book by surf photographer Jeff Divine. (Sample photo, circa 1980-something: two blond dudes in neon trunks, flexing in front of a checkerboard-spray-painted car.) "That's the life," Meagan says.
