The Shipley & Halmossample sale starts today, and we stopped by last night to scope it out. When the sale opens today, guys will find the brand's work-casual collections for up to 70% off, with prices starting at just $10. With Father's Day just around the corner, it's a great place to pick up a gift for dad (or any other man in your life, for that matter).
The sale is held in the brand's showroom at 8 Greene Street, and includes past-season clothing—samples and production items—as well as a smattering of accessories. Many of the samples are one-of-a-kind, and we didn't spot any damages.
The clothing is a pretty good mix of casual streetwear and tailored work-appropriate items. Tops (from sizes XS to XL) make up the majority of the stock: we found short-sleeved polos for $40 and long-sleeved versions for $50, and both come in a variety of stripes and solid colors.
There's a great selection of short- and long-sleeved button down shirts as well, priced at $55 and $65 respectively. Look for summery lightweight stripes ($55) and heavy plaid flannels for cooler weather ($65).
The selection of jackets and blazers is really varied, and ranges from $100 for shirt jackets to $250 for leather. Lightweight options include casual chambray blazers and spring windbreakers, both marked $125. Our favorite finds were the leather bombers and reversible varsity jackets, both $250.
Bottoms are comprised mostly of pants in sizes 28-36, and we saw colored jeans and lightweight wool trousers for $65 each. The selection of shorts is more limited, though we did like a seersucker pair and casual twill styles, both for for $45. There are also some swim trunks for $45 as well. Considering the company doesn't even produce swimsuits anymore, these were a good find.
Leather belts are $35, colorful ties are $30, and there are leather and suede shoes in sizes 8-13. Shoes are priced according to style; low-tops (including oxfords) and desert boots are $75, while leather boots are $90. You'll also find a couple of hats from the brand's 2012 collaboration with Albertus Swanepoel for $50, and some leather and wool briefcases for $75 (but the quantity is limited, and we're guessing they'll go quickly).
The staff fashioned a small fitting room that will fit one person at a time. There will be restocking throughout the duration of the sale, but no more markdowns.
