After four decades in business on East 4th Street, Plantworks is closing its doors at the end of the day for the last time. It's not like the shutter was unexpected—Bowery Boogie reports that "For Lease" signs have been in the windows since September 2012, and earlier this month the store revealed that the landlord was more than doubling their current rent, up to $34,000.
Apparently, there's not much left to purchase today, and scaffolding all but blocks the store from view. Any bets for what's going to take its place?
