We stopped by the Melissa Joy Manning sample sale for the friends and family preview last night, and the local jeweler is celebrating the start of summer by offering up to 75% off past collections and one-of-a-kind pieces, which includes bracelets, rings, earrings, and necklaces. Prices range from $10 to $1,700, and everything is priced individually.
The sale is in the store's back room, and all of the jewelry is laid out on wooden shelves with their own price tags. Many pieces still hover on the expensive side, so we recommend going only if you're looking for a special-occasion piece (or a great Mother's Day gift).
Necklaces make up the majority of the selection, with prices ranging from $30 for sterling silver chain necklaces to $600 for delicate silver and 14-karat gold chain necklaces (originally $800). Most pieces, however, are under $300—we spotted glass bead and silk necklaces for $200 (were $280), braided fabric and wooden bead styles for $100 (down from $220), and turquoise stone pendants for $125, down from $600.
In our opinion, bracelets are worth the splurge—many are limited edition or one-of-a-kind pieces. We found sterling silver and druzy cuffs for $1,200 (from $1,700) and quartz-and-brass statement cuffs for $320 (were $620). You'll also find delicate silver bracelets, adorned with semiprecious stones (such as pyrite and moonstone) for $40 (were $55), while 14-karat gold versions are marked at $150 (down from $195).
The sale includes a small selection of rings and earrings, with earrings ranging from $15for single gold symbol studs—not pairs—to $395 for turquoise and shell drop earrings, which were originally $990. The few rings available are displayed all together, and range from $10 to $1,700.
There will be no restocking and no further markdowns, so we recommend getting in as early as possible. The sale runs today through 7pm and tomorrow from 11am to 7pm.—Gillian Fuller
