Luxury lingerie brand Fleur du Mal's first-ever sample sale kicked off this afternoon, and is running through 8pm Wednesday night.. Inside the sale, lingerie and intimates, plus a small selection of women's ready-to-wear, is discounted up to 75% off. Prices start at $20, and there's a rack of sample that are priced as marked. Note that bra sizes range from 32B-36D.
Most of the sale is composed of lingerie, including bras, panties, garters, and bodysuits. You'll find everyday molded-cup bras for $50$40 (normally $128), as well as special occasion leather styles for $150 (normally $275) and bustier bra tops for $75 (from $189).
Keep in mind that most of the bras err on the delicate, lacy side, so if you're looking for something with a lot of support, you're probably in the wrong place.
The underwear section includes a variety of styles and cuts, and range in size from extra small to large Look for lace thongs, marked $20 (were $45-$65), chiffon briefs for $25 (were $45), and retro-inspired high waisted styles for $35 (were $128). Our favorites included a lace high-waist pair ($35), and ruffled satin bikinis ($30).
You'll also find garters, marked $35 (originally $75) and bodysuits for $150 (were $295), but the selection of these is fairly limited.
Women's ready-to-wear runs from $40 to $825. You'll find a mix of everyday and special pieces, like metallic shorts for $100 (were $465), floral sundresses for $250 (normally $695), and drapey chiffon tops for $150 (were $325). The most expensive item is a tiered tulle cocktail dress, marked $825 (from $1650).
We found tapered tuxedo pants for $100 (normally $495), chiffon-trimmed pleated skirts for $100 (were $355), and an amazing leather-bodice dress for $500 (was $995). There's a price list on the wall that explains the discounts on all items, but the ready-to-wear prices do range—so check if you're unsure.
One rack holds samples of lingerie and ready-to-wear. Most of these are really reasonably priced, so don't skip them. We found a chiffon tie-neck blouse for $30, silky slips for $40, and a sheer chiffon jumpsuit for $150. The selection of samples is small, but they're in great shape.
The staff will be restocking throughout the duration of the sale. Keep an eye out for further markdowns—we were told that prices will be cut sometime today in the late afternoon. There's a changing room in the back of the space, so don't worry about baring the girls for the staff to see. The sale runs until 8pm Wednesday at 138 Baxter Street.—Gillian Fuller
