British luxury shoe label Nicholas Kirkwood is hosting its first-ever sample sale across the pond right now at the Metropolitan Pavillion. We checked out the sale last night expecting tables full of beautifully designed and sculpted shoes—which is exactly what we saw.
All the shoes were laid out on tables and organized by size, ranging from 35 to 42. The venue was very spacious and there was no crowd at all, letting shoppers calmly shop and try on shoes in front of various mirrors set up around the room. There are 11 color-coded price points from that go from $150 up to $700.
Throughout the day, sale organizers gathered all the pink and purple leather pumps onto a separate table and marked them down to $100. So far, these were the only markdowns. Although we thought the prices were still a bit high, we did overhear a woman trying to convince her partner that $400 for these shoes is a steal. Nicholas Kirkwood shoes usually range between $300 for flats and up to $1300 for more exotic shoes or intricate designs.
We saw all walks of shoes (pun intended) at the sale, from leather flats and platform shoes to neon and feathered sandals and even furry booties. Whichever handmade shoe you decide to bring home with you, you will definitely get compliments on them.
Update: We were just told the sale is now offering a buy-one-get-one-free promo on all spring/summer 2012 and autumn/winter 2012 shoes. (The free pair will be of equal or lesser value.)
Check out the gallery above to see prices on a bunch of styles that caught our eye, a shot of what was at each table, and that price list. The sale ends tonight at 8pm.—Hsini
