Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

The price for an individual class at some of the city's hottest boutique fitness studios is typically around the mid-$30s. For example, a session at Brooklyn Bodyburn is $33, SoulCycle is $34, and the Fhitting Room is $35. A few, however, are inching closer and closer to the $40 mark.

Right now, an indoor rowing class at Brooklyn Crew is one of the most expensive at $38. Flex Studios, which offers Pilates, barre, and TRX, just got on that level. An email sent around to clients informs: "While we've operated for more than two years without a price increase, in order to continue to offer you the same experience you've come to expect, we'll be slightly increasing our prices."

And even the cheapie gyms aren't safe: Blink in Noho just upped its monthly price to $25, from $20.
