Bringing a little Northwestern spirit into Nolita is Will Leather Goods, which is moving into the former home of SuperTrash at 29 Prince Street this spring. Goods from designer William Adler are currently sold at Neiman Marcus as well as dedicated stores in Portland, Ore., and Los Angeles.
"We call the New York store the world store since so many people from all over come," Adler told WWD. "We want to share with the world the state of Oregon, with its inspiration of nature, trees, rivers, and the beautiful mountains."
To that end, Adler will transform the 2,000-square-foot space into an ode to his home state—the state tree, the Douglas Fir, will cover the floors, walls and ceilings. "We're not cutting trees down to build the store ... all the wood we use is from fallen trees," he added. It'll then be decorated with antiques, including blades and saws from Oregon.
The store, which will sell men's and women's accessories as well as home goods, will feature an espresso bar with complimentary coffee drinks for customers. "When people come into a Will store, we greet them as if they are coming into our home," Adler said. "And whenever a guest comes over, you offer them a cup of coffee or water. Our mission is to have them stay for a while."
