After hearing about so many stores that have already closed this year, we're hopeful about the news that one of our favorite indie stores is in expansion mode. A tipster spotted this Craigslist ad seeking employees for Cloak & Dagger stores—at their existing Boerum Hill location and a brand new Park Slope shop.
Though a location isn't specified, the boutique is looking for "smart, confident, bright eyed ladies [with] a strong sense of personal style" to work as part-time sales associates and full-time managers for an "IMMEDIATE START!".
Update: Store owner Brookelynn Starnes let us know that they won't be opening up in the neighborhood after all.
It's been a pretty downtrodden year for local businesses. We've already lost Dalaga, Dagny & Barstow, and Mini Mini Market in the cute clothing department, as well as Kiosk for fun gifts. So the fact that a local business is not only surviving, but thriving, is noteworthy.
Cloak & Dagger's site makes no mention of the new location, and we've reached out to their publicist for comment.
