Recapping W'burg and Greenpoint's Booming Home Goods Scene

Perhaps it's the luxury condos, but home goods stores in Williamsburg and Greenpoint are having a particularly booming year. In the past few months alone, several new shops have opened or expanded, leaving the two neighborhoods totally stocked with kitchenware, couches, tchotchkes, and anything else you might want to hang on your wall, put on your floor, or display on your nightstand.

After the jump, we've rounded five of the most recent arrivals.

1. Beam: When this store first opened in September, it went by the name of Brick + Mortar. Now it's Beam, and its proximity to residences on Kent Avenue makes it a seamless fit for the neighborhood that's becoming increasingly more affluent.

Products range from plush screen-printed pillows to leather coasters to soy candles, with just about everything else in between. They also offer interior design services, both large and small—whether you're itching for an entire remodel or just need help selecting paint swatches.
Williamsburg: 240 Kent Avenue between N. 1st and Grand Streets

2. SmallHome: A better fit for apartments that aren't particularly spacious, this new Williamsburg shop (which replaced the children's store Cute Attack) specializes in accessories for your place, rather than serious furniture—think lamps, wall hangings, and even tiny taxidermy.

3. Home of the Brave: The owners of the Franklin Street boutique Wolves Within have just opened a seasonal-rotating shop, Home of the Brave. This month's selection focuses on Brooklyn's handmade tabletop items like pottery, carved spoons, tea towels, and wall hangings.

4. Cucina & Tavola: Three powerhouse brands—Rosenthal, Sambonet and Paderno—have teamed up on Williamsburg's next Cucina & Tavola store, which is packed with kitchenware, tableware, and housewares.

Since the store carries three different lines, finding something that fits your style (and plays nice with the things you already have), shouldn't be a problem. Getting carried away and spending too much though definitely might be.

5. Whisk (expansion): Last last summer, Bedford Avenue's Whisk shop expanded into the space next door, snagging an additional 400 square feet of room. More kitchen supplies for all!
