Soho's newest makeup salon, Pucker has arrived on Grand Street, conveniently located next to the Laicale hair salon. On the ground level, there are eight chairs for application appointments (all of which cost $50), and on the lower level is a dressing room with a large vanity area stocked with hair products from the salon next door, plus showers. The game-changer is the set of lockers, where clients can leave their belongings before heading out to wherever they got all done up for.
The studio also carries its own line of lipsticks, and there are 77 shades in total to choose from. Owners Hiyam McKelvey and celebrity makeup artist Julio Sandino say they're both former club kids, which you'll discover once you check out the lipstick's shade names (yup, there's a Limelight reference). On top of all that, Pucker has a "Selfie Station" toward the back of the salon. Because Instagram photos, or it didn't happen.
Here's the official prediction that Soho is going to be Manhattan's new makeup studio hotspot (or, that makeup studios are the new blowout salons): Pucker is located just a few blocks away from Rouge NY, a new salon that opened on Thompson Street earlier this year.
