The Hatch and twoBirds sample sale kicked off this morning with a steady stream of shoppers devouring the deeply discounted maternity and post-pregnancy apparel and bridesmaids dresses. Hatch's oversized sweaters, chunky knit pants, and flannel shirts were fit for a wintery day like today and shoppers, pregnant or not, couldn't keep their hands off these cozy layers.
The best deals are on the Hatch sample rack, where everything is priced as marked. As far as we could see, there was nothing over $75. We spotted the signature Soiree dress for $60, slouch dresses for $40, and a Swing coat for $75. Other styles on the sample rack include shirt dresses, jumpsuits, and full length voile dresses fit for a beach vacation.
With two more racks of Hatch apparel stocked full of fall and holiday styles priced even lower than their website sale, shoppers headed to the dressing rooms with full arms. Silk dresses for $100 range in styles from casual chambray shirt dresses to silk charmeuse cocktail styles. Knit tees, turtlenecks, and long sleeve tees come in solid black, navy, grey, and stripes for $45.
A selection of cotton chambray polka dot jumpers, pants, and shorts made us long for hot summer days, while the silk tuxedo jackets for $175 and coordinating tuxedo track pants for $125 felt perfect for the last day of Fashion Week.
A few brides-to-be were browsing the two racks of colorful multifunctional bridesmaids dresses from twoBirds. Each style and color is stocked with more than one dress, so it's possible to find dresses for all of your bridesmaids. Navy blue and eggplant short styles are $120, while classic ballgowns in coral and lavender are $140. The overstuffed racks look intimidating, but each dress is clearly marked with style and size, so be sure to check the tags.
The sales staff is knowledgable and friendly, so don't be afraid to ask questions. With two communal mirrors and two private fitting rooms, there's enough room for everyone to try things on without too much hassle. Check out our photo gallery for a full price list. Note that they only accept cash or PayPal (with a $5 service charge). The sale is open today until 7pm, tomorrow from 11am—7pm, and Friday from 11am—5pm at 166 Mercer Street (#6B) between Prince and W. Houston.
