During the month of January, visiting the South Street Seaport will be a, erm, sweeter experience than usual. The Sugarcube, a white, 70-foot-long inflatable igloo has arrived at Fulton Street for free concerts, movie screenings, vinyl sales, and art workshops all month long (though sadly, it does not also act as a bouncy castle).
On afternoons from Thursday to Sunday, there'll be a different themed event—Thursdays will have movie screenings (Enchanted, Little Fugitives, Toxic Avengers, and Teenage Mutant Turtles II); on Fridays, there'll be a DJ happy hour followed by concerts; on Saturdays, bring the kiddos to all-ages art workshops; and on Sundays, shop for records at the Music Market from noon to 5pm.
But first up, there's a New Year's Eve party (free if you RSVP!) with DJs, visual projections, and, you know, the fact that you'll be ringing in 2015 inside a giant blow-up cube. For the full schedule of events, head here.
