NYC's Indie Fashion Set On Where They Dropped $$$ This Year

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Just like last year, we've tapped a handful of reputable fashion friends to weigh in on 2014's greatest hits (and misses). Today, we asked everyone which stores and brands they blew their paychecks on this year—otherwise known as your new go-tos in 2015.

Jill Lindsey, Jill Lindsey: Acne—I love Acne. That is all I have to say.

Kay Lee, Otte: Acne shearling coats, Canada Goose parkas and 3.1 Alexa boots. They're all really classic items that I can wear season after season, so they're worth investing in!

Claire Mazur, Of A Kind: Always Of a Kind. This year we carried two things that I bought duplicates of because I knew I'd wear them out and then be really sad: the Terra Cotta slides by The Palatines and the Open Wool Cardigan by Josi Faye. Didn't regret it in either case.

Olivia Wolfe, American Two Shot: Michelle Varian gets a lot of my paycheck. You always find something special in there. Also there is one vintage store that we, without fail, always get something from, every single time.

Briana Swords, Swords-Smith: Il by Saori Komatsu—warm, textured sweater knits that are unique and mind-blowingly luxurious to wear.

Phillip Salem, Owen: Cushnie Et Ochs for my women's buy because it is the epitome of the Owen girl—sexy, understated, chic.

Kim LoCicero, Veda: Dries Van Noten, I can't resist a statement coat or jacket.

Caroline Ventura, BRVTVS: I bought a lot from Hope, a brand from Stockholm that I really love. And Acne. The Swedes do it right!

Erica Cerulo, Of A Kind: Of a Kind, DUH. Besides that, though, I spent too much money on natural beauty. I haven't found one place that sells all of the things I want—RMS! Earth Tu Face! Beautycounter! Soapwalla!—but I'm excited to check out the new CAP Beauty in the West Village. It looks very promising.
