Just like last year, we've tapped a handful of reputable fashion friends to weigh in on 2014's greatest hits (and misses). On this Christmas Eve, We asked everyone what they thought were the biggest, best, and loudest fashion moments of the past year.
Jill Lindsey, Jill Lindsey: My favorite fashion moment was everyone who started wearing pizza! Katy Perry & Beyonce! It's ridiculous and kind of RAD at the same time.
Laura Gurfein, Racked NY: I was deeply immersed in Met Ball coverage this year, and Lupita Nyong'o's surprising red-carpet dress still sticks out in my mind. From thinking she made a terrible fashion mistake to understanding the inspiration behind her choice, I'm still on the fence about how I feel on this one—yes, even seven months later.
Phillip Salem, Owen: Loved Mariah Carey at the World Music Awards when she won the World Icon Award. She took a runway Cavalli gown then customized by, of course, making it a deep V to show off her girls.
Megan O'Neill, Lucky Magazine: Joan Smalls wearing that purple lipstick to the Met Ball swathed in couture will forever be emblazoned in my mind as maybe the coolest thing ever. I've been trying that out.
Kim LoCicero, Veda: That new Beyoncé video. I'm sure that's everyone's answer.
Eileen Shulock, Kirna Zabete: Charming Jennifer Lawrence enjoying her very first, hard earned, luxury shopping spree—at Kirna Zabete! It was fun to see her fall in love with fashion.
