We're in the midst of an exciting season right now—department store markdown season, that is. And while Bergdorf Goodman just rolled out its second round of markdowns, with merchandise up to 60% off retail prices, Madison Avenue Spy warns us not to get too excited just yet.
She found that most pieces reaching that upper discount are from spring/summer 2014, like light dresses and bathing suits—bags and shoes from this season are still just 30% off, while apparel from both high-end designers and contemporary labels reach 40% off. Here's hoping that we'll find heavier discounts when post-Christmas sales roll around.
Update: While a Bergdorf's representative tells us "all fine apparel" is 60% off as of today (excluding Chanel, Dior, and Celine), Madison Avenue Spy maintains that most discounts are still in the 30%—40% off range. As of tonight, discounts on Bergdorf's website haven't reached 60% off on several items.
