(Almost) Open For Now

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

What was once the Canvas store at Lafayette and Broome Streets will soon be a pop-up shop devoted to a different fabric: Velcro. Though the store was originally scheduled to open yesterday and will only last through December 19th, teaser signage is still up at the storefront. Once open, visitors can expect crafting products, Velcro décor, a hot chocolate bar, holiday photo ops, workshops, and something we've been seeing a lot of lately: Social currency, or designated days where shoppers can pay for merchandise using the power of a simple RT.
