Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Signage has popped up for Nimble Fitness on St. Mark's Place, adding a healthy element to a block that's better known for glass bongs and dollar slices. Well + Good caught up with the gym owners to talk about an opening date (February 2015), its small group classes for conditioning and TRX (no more than six students), and what the heck The Octagon is.

"It's a new piece of equipment—only one other facility in the United States has it," co-owner Keith Paine told the site (great gym owner name, Keith). Created by Escape Fitness, the customizable, interchangeable piece is made of of stations—eight, we assume—like battle ropes, monkey bars, squat racks, and a kickboxing bag.

It sounds like something Mike O'Malley would challenge overenthusiastic pre-teens to conquer on the gone-but-never-forgotten Nickelodeon Guts. In order to live out childhood fantasies, we'll be signing up first.
