An armed thief stole $2 million worth of jewelry yesterday afternoon in the Diamond District by posing as a delivery man, according to authorities. Wearing a black hat and trench coat, the robber entered Watch Standard on the eighth floor of 23 West 47th Street, then demanded jewelry and the contents of their safe before whipping the store owner on the head with a handgun. He left with a bag of jewelry to join an accomplice downstairs, and the duo are still at large. [NYT]
