Leading the mini exodus from the increasingly shrinking Paris Fashion Week, Valentino is bringing a new couture collection to New York City, the New York Times reports. It'll celebrate the new Fifth Avenue flagship, which opened in August, and precede the usual couture show in January.
Why the sudden interest in New York? Vanessa Friedman explains: "Couture, of all collections, is about selling to customers, so you go where the customers are. Not where hidebound tradition says you have to be." Alternate explanation: Taylor Swift.
