Back in August, independent bookstore Book Culture announced its plan to open a third location at 450 Columbus Avenue (the mini-chain already has two outposts in Morningside Heights). And, in hopes of drumming up enough excitement to meet its yearly sales goal of $3 million (the sum Book Culture needs to break even), owner Chris Doeblin has invited Upper West Siders to paper the not-yet-open store's signage in Post-It graffiti, West Side Rag reports.
Passersby are encouraged to jot down their feelings about having a new neighborhood bookstore on sticky notes, and then slap them on the boarded-up space. Some sample Posts-Its: "reading is sexy," "take that Barnes & Noble," "best thing ever," and "this is amazing," signed "Captain Jean-Luc Picard."
