Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Taylor Swift is taking her new role as New York City's Global Welcome Ambassador very seriously. She's in our Duane Reades (or at least her new single, "Welcome to New York," is pumping through the speakers), on our Taxi TV, and now she's educating us on some NYC vocabulary words.

Yes, in a video for NYC GO, Swift defines terms like "stoop," "Houston Street," and bodega. "Bodegas are our friends," she says, but we'll believe her when she's photographed in one, groggily paying for a bacon egg and cheese, coconut water, and a Toblerone bar at 1pm on a Saturday.
