Barnes & Noble's only outpost in the Bronx will close in December—leaving the entire borough without a comprehensive bookstore. Though the Bronx has "a handful" of niche bookstores selling college textbooks, Spanish-language books, or religious texts, the Barnes & Noble in Bay Plaza was its last full-service, general interest spot. No word on what will replace the space—though probably not a Borders. Update: Just kidding! Gothamist is reporting that Barnes & Noble has just extended their lease for two more years.
