Following the news of the designer's death at the age of 82, the Madison Avenue Oscar de la Renta flagship has closed for the day. A white plaque in the front window reads, "Oscar passed away yesterday, today we grieve. We'll be back tomorrow."

While the store remains empty (save for a security guard out front), de la Renta's fans have assembled a mini memorial by the entrance. Bouquets, sketches, and a list of the designer's most famous quotes line the doorway.
