Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

The inventor of New York Fashion Week, Fern Mallis, will interview the inventor of, well, a lot of really beautiful clothes, Valentino Garavani, at 92Y this fall.

Coinciding with the release of Valentino: At the Emperor's Table, the power-chat will take place November 18th at 8pm, though the two plan to meet for an espresso (of course) beforehand: "I will ask my proverbial question," Mallis told WWD, "which is: 'Is anything off-limits?' and if so, I won't go there."

Some topics that won't be off-limits: what Valentino's been up to in the six years since he retired, the state of haute couture, and the curious rise of celebrity designers.

Tickets start at $35, and are on sale here. And, if you can't wait six weeks, Mallis will also be interviewing fashion journalist Teri Agins on October 9th.
