Jemma Wynne's Designers Own the Fancy Bangle Market

Welcome to Open Studio, a Racked feature where we explore the workspaces and showrooms of some of the city's most talented, up-and-coming designers.

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Stephanie Wynne and Jenny Klatt's jewelry line Jemma Wynne started the way most great businesses do—the designers, who met while working in product development, spotted a hole in the market and set about filling it. "We couldn't find everyday jewelry that felt rich and luxurious," Stephanie told us when we stopped by the duo's Fifth Avenue studio. "Everything is comfortable, it's light and it lays on you really well. Our pieces can be super dressy, but they can also be worn with a T-shirt and ripped jeans."

This season, Stephanie and Jenny have updated their signature open bangles with extra flash. "We call it 'Revival' because there's a mixture of things from years past," Jenny says of their latest collection. "There's a little Deco with some '70s and '80s chains mixed in." And, for the first time ever, New Yorkers will be able to browse Jemma Wynne's lineup—the label has found a permanent home at Crosby Street's Broken English.
