In what may be the first bit of Financial District retail news that doesn't have to do with Brookfield Place in 2014, the New York Post is reporting that Zara will be opening a three-level store at 222 Broadway, across the street from the Fulton Transit Center.
"We believed Zara's flagship store format would be better suited to a strong Broadway street location, as opposed to the more mall-like environments of Brookfield Place or the World Trade Center retail," Bradley Mendelson of commercial real estate firm Cushman & Wakefield told the paper.
The 30,000-square foot store will wrap around the corner of the block, giving it 264 feet of frontage. The location will carry the men's, women's, and children's lines, and is expected to open in late 2014 or early 2015.
