Ouidad Curl Quencher Moisturizing Shampoo, $16 at Ricky's
I'm bracing myself for the angry emails I'm about to receive from hairstylists across the nation, because my hair secret is a bit of a no-no in terms of follicle care. I ran out of shampoo and conditioner about a month ago, and turned to the shampoo that a girlfriend left at my apartment. She has the type of curly hair that mesmerizes babies and impels grown adults to ask her if they can touch it. I have basically thick, sort of wavy, long hair. She washes it maybe once a week. I shampoo every other day and use conditioner always. Period.
But in a moment of desperation I tried her bottle of extremely moisturizing and extra gentle Curl Quencher Moisturizing Shampoo by Ouidad without conditioner, and my hair didn't just survive the experience. It looked amazing. It became soft, shiny but not greasy, and full. It brought out my natural highlights and my hair's waviness actually looked intentional. Any haircare professional will chastise me by citing hair science, and I should probably listen to them. But my locks looks great for now, and I'm into it.
