Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Veda designer Lyndsey Butler left her post on the Lower East Side in early 2011 in favor of a new storefront: the World Wide Web. But when Lyndsey talked with us that year, she toyed with the idea of reopening in Nolita, Soho or the West Village.

September saw that thought come to fruition when Veda opened its doors at 19 Mercer Street. The space is minimally designed and closet-sized, which allows the racks of amazing leather jackets to speak for themselves. Leather, leather, and more leather line the walls in shades of black, deep purple and, hunter green.

A few items to keep your eyes peeled for: the persian-rug-inspired clutches that were actually cut from the store's ceiling fabric, and the Pamela Love x Veda leather jacket collaboration, pictured below.—Esther Levy-Chehebar
