Coach doesn't want any competitors at their new Hudson Yards HQ—for office space or retail. As part of their deal with the developer, the handbag company has outlined a list of companies that aren't allowed to claim space in the South Tower at Tenth Avenue and 31st Street. Burberry, Polo Ralph Lauren, and J.Crew are among the eight businesses specifically banned from obtaining office space in the structure. For retail, 20 brands were named.
Currently, Coach, beauty giant L'Oreal, and technology company SAP are confirmed office tenants in the building, while Fairway will anchor the bottom of the structure. While fashion brands won't have much luck renting the remaining 350,000 square feet in the building, there is still plenty of space in the neighborhood, including an 80-story office tower just north of Coach.
