British Import Sweaty Betty Offers Free Fitness Rave Classes

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

What's sweaty, involves glow sticks, free-styling, and strobe lights? That'd be one of the free fitness classes offered at Sweaty Betty, a new activewear store at 77 Mercer Street. The British brand offers complimentary classes for its customers in the downstairs dance studio, like the high-energy, 1980s-inspired Frame Rave Class that involves flouro face paint, glow sticks and adrenaline-pumping music.

The Frame Rave class is just one of the programs the cheeky boutique offers. The Soho Barre Fusion Club is every Monday at 6.30pm, the Soho HIT Club (high intensity interval training) is every Thursday at 6.30pm, and the Soho Yoga Club takes place every Friday at 12.30pm.

The store also teams up with well-known gyms and exclusive personal trainers for special one-off classes that are small and intimate, so space is limited. Booking works on a day-by-day basis, in order to ensure that everyone has a fair chance to participate. To save a place for yourself, just give them a call at 646-386-7003.—Malky Weichbrod
