Shoes at the last sale
It's confirmed! We were just told by the Metropolitan Pavilion that the semi-annual Barneys Warehouse sale will begin on Thursday, August 22, and run through Labor Day weekend. Employees that we spoke to at the Barneys locations around the city, including the Madison flagship and the stores on the Upper West Side, Soho, and Brooklyn, weren't able to offer up official dates, but the brand-new venue for the sale did.
As previously reported, this is the first time the Metropolitan Pavillion will be holding the warehouse sale, now that the Chelsea Co-op has shuttered. Back in the beginning of the year, we learned that the merchandise at future sales "will turn heavily toward men's." Daniella Vitale, Barney's chief merchant and executive VP, explained: "The origin of the warehouse sale was as a men's sale. While men's tailored clothing is a little harder to sell, in some ways it's going back to the original concept."
It's worth noting that the last sale wasn't really worth it, so maybe the new format will be a good thing. Check out all our past coverage of the sales previous warehouse here to reminisce.—Laura Gurfein
