The ridiculously-named American Dream Meadowlands—previously the ridiculously-named Meadowlands Xanadu—is close to finalizing deals with several major retailers. Uniqlo, Topshop, Forever 21, and Zara are among those named to take space in the venue, which will house other attractions like Cirque du Soleil performances, an indoor ski slope, and the country's largest Ferris wheel.
Many of the planned stores will be "flagship locations that will outshine the chain's outposts on the far side of the Hudson in Manhattan." Say what?! Zara will erect one of its largest global units in the complex, while Forever 21's store will be as big or bigger than its Times Square crown jewel. The upside for New Yorkers? Broadway should be a little less crowded on weekends.
