This week, Jon Caramanica went to the Detroit-based brand Shinola's new Tribeca flagship. He writes: "There isn't anything scrappy about Shinola, but you couldn't possibly know from walking into its impressively spacious storefront that the building was purchased by Bedrock for $14.5 million in 2011. For a new company, it is a splashy way to launch. For a new company that preaches the modest values of local craftsmanship, it is a bit of a bait and switch." [NYT]
