$25 Steals for Guys at the Bespoken Sample Sale

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

We swung by a preview of the Bespoken Clothiers sample sale last night to check out the goods and prices at this all guys sale. If you're not familiar with the brand, it's traditional Saville Row tailoring with a rock 'n' roll twist. The prices range from $10 to $190, and sizing runs on the fitted side—but it really depends on the style, so trying on is recommended.

When you walk in, head past the cash wrap and hit the $25 rack and box area first. We spotted full suits, blazers, swimsuits, shorts, sweaters, and polos all tucked away on the racks. The box mostly contains outerwear, and there are some very stylish Harris Tweed herringbone jackets. There are all sizes in here, even though a sign pointing to the rack says "medium". If there isn't a size listed, it's a sample and might fit a medium or large depending on the cut. There's also a set of sized boxes, past the shoes, that have more outerwear options for $50.

The shoes should be your next stop, since those might get raided fast. Sizes range from 8 to 13, and there are a lot of sizes available. There are two pricing options: $120 for boots and dressier shoes and $90 for sneakers and casual pairs. There's a killer pair of brown leather brogue boots that would look great with a suit or jeans, and a nice pair of black and wool combo boots.

Jackets are broken down into spring options for $75, sports coats for $125, and fall coats for $190. Sizes in here range from small to extra large and 38 to 44. Some standout styles we saw included a super cool camo-esque two button sport coat and a heavier grey coat with a black shawl collar that'll keep you stylishly warm in the colder months.

The racks of $50 button ups include sizes small through extra large. There's a $35 knit rack with short and long sleeve tees, lightweight sweaters, and some tailored sweatshirts. We saw a henley in here with quilted details that could easily become your new favorite fall shirt.

You'll find a rack of pants and shorts for $50, which have casual and dressy styles in sizes 30 through 36. There's a table of heavy weight sweaters going for $65 and another table of cashmere sweaters for $100. The accessory area has pockets squares for $10, ties and bow ties for $20, and an amazing backpack that converts into a tote bag for $75.

To get to the sale enter at 50 1/2 East 57 Street (clearly marked, next door to the store) and take the elevator to the sixth floor. There are no fitting rooms, but two large mirrors to try things on. Goods will be restocked throughout the sale.—Mickey Sery
