It's opening day for French candlemaker Diptyque, located on the corner of Mott and Prince streets in Nolita. It's the brand's fifth stateside boutique and its third in Manhattan. We stopped by today to see what's burning (literally), and it's the limited-edition Infini candle. Expect to find the full line of Diptyque products here, including candles, fragrances, lotions, and more.
All of the decorations in the quite small space were created by the brand's French designer, who was trying to emulate a modern take on the first Parisian store on Boulevard Saint-Germain. The geometric wallpaper design was inspired by the founders' original intentions of being fabric designers. We'd recommend taking a trip downtown to check it out, especially via Citi Bike—there's a station right outside.—Laura Gurfein
