Welcome to our search for New York City's hottest trainer. Over the coming weeks, we'll profile twenty-two smoking candidates who work at local gyms and studios. Once you've gotten to know everyone, we'll host a March Madness-style showdown in which you get to vote for your favorite.

Jaimie Bailey has been a cycling instructor at Flywheel Sports for a little over a year, and her background includes everything from surfing (she grew up in South Florida) to nutrition (she's a licensed Nutritionist). She began her love affair with Flywheel as a rider, and after "a light bulb went off," she moved up to the teacher's bike. Now, she teaches classes in the morning, evening, and night—so there's no excuse for you not showing up due to the a schedule.

Describe your training style: Are you drill sergeant? More laid back?

I've been known to be a little tough on my riders, occasionally using the art of profanity to get them going! I certainly enjoy the quiet moments where it's just you and your practice, but I figure if a rider is making a 45 minute commitment to train, I need to make a 45 minute commitment to kick their butt!

What's one piece of advice everyone should hear before beginning a new workout?

Regardless of what the workout is, if it's something new to your body, I say spend 90% of your focus on form and the rest on producing. Training is about building, and you can't build without your foundation.

Tell us a fun fact about you.

I've been playing drums for the past ten years, and I attribute my teaching style to it. Always on beat!
