Disrupting the trend of chain store openings on the Upper West Side is new designer Boyoung Kim. The Commerical Observer reports the designer, whose resume includes time at Alexander Wang, has signed on for a 700-square-foot store at 410 Columbus Avenue. The address puts her adjacent to Alexis Bittar, perhaps reigniting some fashion cred for the neighborhood.
Fall/winter 2013 is the debut collection for the line, which was founded in 2012. Kim studied journalism in Korea, worked in PR and investment banking, and ultimately found herself taking fashion design classes at FIT. After internships and freelance work, the namesake line was born. All of the pieces from the brand are currently produced in New York City.
