Though Condor's sample sale was scheduled to start at noon today, the doors were already open when we went by about ten minutes early. The first thing we noticed is that there's a lot of black, which we think is a good thing—this is New York, after all. But once we started digging through the racks, we were mostly focused on the discounts of up to 80% off from brands like Vivienne Westwood, Theory, Iro, and more.
Items are organized by color and individually marked with a sticker (or sometimes, a half-sticker) that coordinates to charts on the wall. The stickers indicate pricing in the range of $10 to $300, or, in the case of a round yellow sticker, 60% off the retail price. All jewelry is also on sale for 50% off the listed price. If there isn't a sticker, it's
$50 50% off.
Two such unmarked items were some of our favorite pieces at the sale. We immediately noticed two Iro jackets: an army green jacket with leather detail (was $624) and a silver sequin jacket (was $954) are each
$50 50% off. The sales associate told us that the former is still in the French brand's boutique in Soho for full price—check out images for both in our gallery above.
There's also a cool Cut25 by Yigal Azrouël black jacket with leather sleeves for
$50 half off, from $542. The sleeves zip off, making it into a vest. We noticed a few styles of Vivienne Westwood Anglomania leather jackets starting at $150, and a black crushed velvet dress from Paper Crown for $50 50% off, down from $284. Theory pants are $75 (from $315), and a basic bright pink cotton shirt from the brand is $30.
There's also a wall of shoes by the register. Vivienne Westwood Anglomania pairs start at $50, and Rodebjer boots in brown and black are $75. We also saw flats from Cheap Monday for $50 and a singular pair of Rebecca Minkoff shiny bronze oxfords for
$50 50% off.
Many of the pieces in the store are the only one available, so there's no guarantee that you'll be able to find your size in every style. But you can seek fluffy solace by taking a peek at Merlin the bunny, who lives under the jewelry table in the center of the store.—Laura Gurfein
Update: We were mistaken at the sale that any merchandise without a sticker is $50—it's actually 50% off. It's been reflected above. See the price list in the gallery for additional markdown info.
