The Barneys New York summer sale has been well underway since Memorial Day weekend, so we swung on over yesterday to see what goodies still remain. The first signs of sale merchandise we stumbled upon was a display of bags that made us feel giddy right away. Bright colored Proenzas (including one very special PS1), Lanvin shoulder bags in exotic skins, and a minimalist Saint Laurent white clutch were joined by suede and leather wallets.

But before we get ahead of ourselves, you should know that the prices are not super low. Instead of paying $890 for a Proenza clutch, you'll be paying $629.

Shelling out $1,579 for a Givenchy top-handle is eons better than paying the retail price of $2,260, but it's only July, so we would consider taking a gamble to see how much the price might drop in the next couple of weeks. After-all, room must be made for fall arrivals.

Most of the bags seemed to be discounted at 40% off, like a blue suede Pierre Hardy for $629, marked down from $1,050. But the biggest steal on this floor seemed to be a Lanvin water-snake shoulder bag marked down from $2,145 to $859.

Next stop: the shoes. If you haven't gotten your summer sandals yet, now might be the time to pop on over, because the floor was filled with shoes in all shapes and sizes. We found a pair of Céline flat sandals for $389, black patent leather Lanvin flats for $299, and some killer Pierre Hardy kicks for $339.

Again, these prices aren't super-cheap, but the selection remains huge. We were shocked to find a pair of classic black suede Loubs on the sale rack for $599. We did notice that many of the shoes were only marked down once. We sense a second markdown coming sooner than later.

Onto the Co-op floors, where bags and shoes are less costly but more scarce. If you were holding out to scoop up a pair of those floral Rag & Bone booties, now might be the time to swoop in: We saw a good amount still left, and now they're marked down to $219. Other brands that appeared on the Co-op shoe racks include Carven, and Phillip Lim.

Amid the small selection of bags on this floor, we did see some cute Alexander Wang pieces, like a leather shoulder bag on sale in both black and white, marked down to $449.

Over in the apparel area there are sale racks scattered throughout, but it does seem that a fair amount of them are still full-priced. We did, however, hear that there would be additional merchandise marked down sometime after the Fourth. As for what is on sale at the moment, discounts range from 40% to 60%. There is a small selection of Carven, as well as rack of Acne Studios apparel, where you'll notice a few pairs of green suede pants. Those are marked down from $1,250 to $499.

Alexander Wang and Theyskens' Theory each fill their own small sale area, while two small racks are dedicated to Isabel Marant and Étoile Isabel Marant. If you still need cute shorts and skirts, check out the sale pieces by Wayne for about $160. And if you're looking for a crisp white blazer to add to your summer wardrobe, there's one by Elizabeth and James for $199. If that doesn't satisfy your summer whites craving, see the Vince white leather pants on sale for $689 (from $1,150).

Last but not least, be sure to sift through the many racks of denim—there is seriously a ton of it. Need a visual? Get a glimpse of what's in store in the gallery above.—Claudia Saide
