Continuing the wave of retail shops opening across the East River, a spokeswoman for Turkish brand Mavi Jeans has confirmed that their Park Slope location will open next month. The new store, which sells both men's and women's styles, will occupy 2,400 square feet on Fifth Avenue and Union Street, across the street from Brooklyn Industries.
Park Slope was chosen because "it is an area where the Mavi customer lives and works," according to the brand. The Brooklyn store will be a testing grounds for the company, where they will experiment with product assortments and retail environments to better understand the U.S. customer. The denim brand previously operated a Manhattan storefront on Broadway, just south of Union Square.—Laura Gurfein
