A few months back, we met up with Brooklyn-based designer Kelsy Parkhouse and learned about the process behind getting her women's ready-to-wear brand, Carleen, into the hands of Jen Mankins at Bird. Parkhouse's career got a boost last year when she graduated from Pratt with a grant, had one of her dresses photographed on Natalie Joos at Paris Fashion Week, and got a nice compliment from Cathy Horyn. And now, she's a Racked Young Gun contestant.
The busy designer took time away from her two jobs (she still works full-time in production in NYC's Garment District) to talk to Racked in her studio/apartment about being a young designer, the importance of comfort, and how she uses stress as motivation.
